My best friend pulled over on the side of the road, to give her voice his full attention. He shot a text message to me ” this girl is REALLY good…she made me feeel”. The song was Pi Lo Lo by Jojo Abot. She is a Ghanaian singer and her voice is sultry and otherworldly. The four track conceptual EP Fyfya Woto was recorded in Copenhagen with co-producer Jonas Rendbo. The tracks are titled : Lom Vava, To Li, Pi Lo Lo, and Le Le Le. I must admit I enjoy saying the titles of the songs as much as I like listening to them. Not all the songs are in entirely English but, you could feel her voice in any language. She will be featured in Ms. Lauryn Hill’s Fall “Diaspora Calling” 2017 tour. Each show will feature performances by artists from different parts of the African Diaspora.
